Rooted in faith and strengthened through perseverance, Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church has long served as a spiritual and cultural anchor for generations of Ukrainian-Americans in the greater Pittsburgh region.
The parish’s origins date back to the early 20th century, when Eastern European immigrants arrived in Carnegie in search of opportunity and a place to worship in the rich traditions of their Byzantine Christian heritage. Initially part of Sts. Peter & Paul Russian Greek Catholic Church, founded in 1903, the community gradually came to embrace its Ukrainian Catholic identity.
In the 1940s, under the leadership of Fr. Marion Kucher, a majority of the faithful aligned themselves fully with the Ukrainian Catholic Church. This transition laid the foundation for the establishment of a distinct parish under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.
A legal dispute over the original church property in the early 1950s prompted the formation of a new parish. Through the vision, pastoral leadership, and tireless dedication of Monsignor Russell Danylchuck, the present Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church was built—providing a permanent spiritual home for the growing Ukrainian Catholic community in Carnegie. Monsignor Danylchuck faithfully led the parish until 1984.
He was succeeded by Fr. Richard Seminack, who served the community with distinction until 2003, when he was appointed Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas in Chicago.
Another significant figure in the life of the parish was Monsignor George Appleyard, who shepherded the community through years of continued growth and liturgical enrichment. In 2014, Fr. Jason Charron was assigned as pastor and continues to lead the parish in fidelity to the Byzantine tradition, rooted in worship, service, and cultural identity.
Holy Trinity remains a place where faith, culture, and community come together. We offer a Saturday Divine Liturgy (4:00 PM) and two Sunday Divine Liturgies—one in Ukrainian (8:30 AM) and one in English (11:00 AM)—welcoming all who seek the beauty of Eastern Christian worship.
Our church is known for:
Led today by our pastor Fr. Jason Charron and Father Deacon Myron Spak, Holy Trinity continues to stand as a spiritual anchor in Carnegie—honoring the past, serving the present, and embracing the future.
